[Pkg-fonts-devel] Bug#447182: defoma-hints missing location Panjabi

Thanks for the link. The font supports it but the corresponding defoma configuration is still mysterious...

After investigating some more I found the defoma mapping from Location to charsets is located in /etc/defoma/loc-cset.data and only holds entries for a limited number of languages.

It seems this mapping is called by /usr/share/defoma/libhint-truetype.pl
"Location represents which language and which region characters of a font belongs to. This information is recorded in a TrueType font file in
number as Language ID, and converted to string as <Language>-<Region> or
just <Language> format by this program."

So I've added Panjabi to the hints (the new package is on mentors.d.o) but I'm not certain its absence would prevent users of the font to be able to render and type in Panjabi. (Fontconfig already does the mapping and most apps use it).

Cheers,
