I am trying to ping with ip addresses (e.g. ping 192.168.0.2).
Here is the results of route:

default generic10.infoa 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ppp0
Somewhere (not sure where :), "home" became an alias for 192.168.0.0/24,
because if I issue the following command:
route add -net 192.168.0.0/24 eth0
My routing table looks exactly the same, except I get another line like
this:
home * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
