Bug#988059: shim-signed fails to install on non-EFI system

No. I searched the logs for apt & dpkg, but I couldn't find
any install date so it has been on the system for more than one year.
I'm almost sure I didn't install it myself, unless it came
as a dependency from some other package. :-)

The installation on this machine has been going through several hardware
replacements so it could have been more than 10 years ago.
(Or whenever EFI was introduced.)

That's all I could find, sorry.

However, after reinstalling shim-signed I could successfully remove it.

Thanks!
