I sent down message to linuxiskolen@skolelinux.no but got the advice to send it here instead, due to more readers.
I work at a
school where we today use a thinlinc system by cendio systems, but now
we want to break free and use an open system, so Im trying out
skolelinux.
Everything seems promising, but I
run into one or two problems. The worst of them is that we sit with
around 30 Fujitsu-Siemens A230 thin clients that I cant get to boot...
When
booting it gets the dhcp packet to pxe-boot. But after it tries to
enable the network card and to download the os it just goes black screen
on me. I have checked the /var/log/syslog to see if I can find the
problem, but it seems ok down to the end where it just gets stuck...
I
attach the log from the
start of the thin client down to where it gets stuck and nothing more
happens with the client. The screen is off (blanked out) and there are
no more communication on the network card (no blinking).
Im really stuck on this one, since
Im fairly new to ltsp and i dont really know how to continue tracking
this issue or how to modify the pxe-boot-file to test with other
firmware or to see what makes the boot to stall.. I can just see, it
starts loading the img-file and then it freezes...
Any one of you guys that have experience with these futro? Or can figure out what to do next to try to solve this problem?
According to hardwarelist on the net it is supposed to be a
Realtek RTL8110 nic on these, but I have not confirmed it my self.

I got down advice from Petter
Reinholdtsen and I think he is on the right track. I looked into the
second advice down, but I cant find those scripts on my installation,
which is the latest downloadable skolelinux available right now.
