This is the client preseeding for sitesummary:

  sitesummary-client sitesummary-client/collector_url string http://sitesummary/cgi-bin/sitesummary-collector.cgi

I guess it explain what setting to use for the URL. :)

No idea.  Perhaps the SSL certificate for the server is missing on the
client?  It is normally saved in /etc/ldap/ssl/ by
init.d/fetch-ldap-cert on debian edu clients.
