Access problem for laptops is a different bug.  They do not use the
resolv.conf from thin clients, they use the DNS setting from DHCP.
Please create a different bugzilla bug for that issue.

The effect of broken DNS setup on thin clients are probably that they fail to
register with sitesummary, and might be unable to sync with the NTP server.
Can not remember any other services on the thin clients needing DNS.
