Testing Lenny CD and DVD
Dear list,
this initial report will go into bugzilla later.
Once in a week, I teach a computing course (10th year) - each lesson
lasting 60 minutes. Quite tight schedule for our current projects:
1. Install and deploy Skolelinux workstations [old Dell PCs]
2. Install and deploy Skolelinux LTSP servers [new AMD64 opteron]
3. Build, design and teach a robot
4. Contribute to Openstreetmap.org
Anyway, last night I managed to download current images of Lenny:
- DVD for any architecture
- CD for i386
We used these for our LTSP servers:
- CD netinstall went very nice - but:
- kdm needs to be started manually
- /skole/tjener missing
- home0 does not mount
- PAM doesn't bind to LDAP
- DVD failed because the menu presenting
profiles is missing. After informing about
the existing profiles, next step is autopart.
No packages will be marked for installation.
Furthermore, an Etch Workstation [DELL] installed
fine - but student users were not allowed to access
USB media by HAL (membership in plugdev does not suffice)
Otherwise: Great job done already - we will go on testing the
thin clients functionality of LTSP next week.

Thank you
Kind regards
for now (in a hurry)
