divert symlinks pointing to dirs
Hi,
sometimes two packages provide the same file or a symlink on a directory,
which is the same for dpkg, because it couldn't overwrite it. In such
cases dpkg-divert is a welcome workaround, but it doesn't work with
symlinks which points on a directory. Paradoxically it works with
symlinks which points on a file. It is a simple job to change dpkg-divert
to accept symlinks on directories - but Adam Heath said no.
How do you think? What is a solution for the above situation? And what
should packages do, which need to replace a symlink pointing on a dir?
Bye, Joerg.
