So it would be wort to look at the LFS scripts, to get a minimum system boot
strapped. 

On the other side, if you use any form of external tools (and you will need
to do that unless you use the ROM debugger from IBM PCs to enter bootstrap
code), you can also use a minimal bootstrap system from cross compiler.

This would not be safe against the Thompsons trust[1] attack, but at least it
will generate a nearly completely reproduceable build environment.
