The recommended way to test d-i ATM is (AFAIK) via the daily built CD netinst
images, available at http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/netinst/ . Apart
from that, you could try asking at debian-boot@lists.debian.org instead of
here, as that is the official mailing list for the new installer. :-)

Probably filing a bug against the pseudo-package "installation" would a good
thing, too. :-)
