You mist the most important part in that phrase: 'for all stable
architectures'. For example, nobody's started to port d-i to s390; as a
result, it's not a usable installer for s390 yet. However, it certainly
is a usable installer for i386 and powerpc, although there certainly are
some issues left.

That wouldn't help, since we'd need to port anaconda to other
architectures as well...
