While I still do consider the debconf usage in alsa-base problematic (not preserving module options will bite eg. people with before-PnP cards, and is against the policy) I must admit that the tone, and to some degree content, of my report is below any standards, offensive, and my rant was ill targeted at a developer that really tried to do something right.
