Apparently the US Secret Service Financial Crimes Division has a "419
Task Force" now; http://www.treas.gov/usss/financial_crimes.shtml#Nigerian
only mentions their older efforts ("Operation 4-1-9"), but given that
some of the stories have involved counterfeit cash, it isn't
surprising that they're involved.
Wouldn't be too surprised if more personal offense was taken by the
"peacekeeping troops finding stash" variation -- or maybe it's just a
matter of shutting down those who are profiting from the effort...
