I find life much less frustrating if I just add /sbin and /usr/sbin to the
default PATH on every system I administer. Making that the default was
previously discussed here, with the concensus being that we should fix the
location of executables instead of changing the default path. A noble goal,
but one which has seen little or no action since.
My way of thinking about this is that if the permissions allow execution by
anyone other than root, then either it doesn't belong in an sbin directory,
or the sbin directories should be in the PATH. Since I can fix the latter
locally much more easily than the former...
