Re: concensus on removing TeX and Emacs from standard
I use emacs and tex almost daily. I don't think they should be standard,
given how huge they are. As other people pointed out, having one 'standard'
selection is a bit broken. At a physics department, tex and emacs should
be part of a standard workstation installation, whereas alot of the stuff
in the full-blown scientific workstation selections goes unused. People
mostly use netscape, tex (and gv) , gcc and g77, I'd guess.
But this doesn't seem to be a critical issue around here.
