Well, I'm back now. One of my disks has just died :-(. I've spent the last few hours restoring from backups and putting things straight, and I'm currently running with a rather cut-down /usr partition. At least the damn thing is still in warranty, but in the meantime I'm 1Gb down ... I'll reply to the last two weeks' Debian list traffic in the next day or so. Ian.
