No, it's not.

Then these packages should be modified to provide the x-terminal-emulator
virtual package and use update-alternatives to register the
x-terminal-emulator alternative.

See the xterm package for how to do this.

"sensible-xterm" is a complely idiotic idea.  The solution I have already
implemented will do everything that is needed.  The trick now is to get the
package maintainers of all the other terminal emulators on board.
