Why not upload the fixed sysutils to stable (it will get pushed into
proposed-updates). Is it a new upstream version or a bugfix?

archive maintainers to move well-tested stuff into stable, and/or (b)
pester debian-testing@lists.debian.org to test stuff more thoroghly
and/or make sure all relevant stuff is ported.
