Hamm dhcpcd bug with 2.2.x kernel (Bug 32257) Incorrectly closed

I am experiencing bug #32257. DHCPCD dies with this error:

ioctl SIOCSIFBRDADDR (ifConfig): Cannot assign requested address

Doing a search on Dejanews for this problem, I found that this bug was
marked as closed from a message that only says that the source on Sunsite
no longer has this problem. The debian package has not been fixed.

Package: dhcpcd
Version: 0.70-karn

With kernel 2.2.0-pre9 dhcpcd dies with this error:

ioctl SIOCSIFBRDADDR (ifConfig): Cannot assign requested address

This problem seems to be fixed with the dhcpcd version on
Sunsite (ver 1.3).
