I'm seeing that I can't select any other fonts. And I read your original
comment that says that GNOME2 "is intended to work with ttf fonts".

It's not resolved, non-tt fonts are still not usable with gnome-terminal.
In fact, I just tried setting it to use FreeMono (from the ttf-freefonts
package) and even that failed, so the problem is not just restricted to
non ttf fonts.
