It is possible that the upstream author of fpm may resume maintaining
the package again.

Well, I've been away from it for a while, but I might try to take a
crack at those bugs. If anyone else is interested in helping me
maintain it, please let me know -- I know FPM deserves a lot more
attention than I'm giving it.

Is development likely to start up again anytime?

Currently I maintain the fpm package for Debian, but I may be
forced to orphan the package, because I do not have time to
fix these bug reports which keep a growing, eg:

#144895 passwords currupted if user changes password.
#161596 passwords entered > 24 chars silently truncated.
#161596 passwords read > 24 chars causes fpm to crash.
also: memory not locked down, so passwords can be swapped to disk.

and: I can no longer build fpm on a Debian unstable system.
I tried playing around with the Makefiles to fix the problem,
but still couldn't get it to work (more details available on request).
