No, I'm not ignoring that point: I'm telling you it's a mistake.
It's a mistake because it means you have *no* way of ensuring your change
is a success (you *can't* force volunteers to do anything), and it's a
mistake because it makes it harder to prototype your changes.
If you absolutely insist on doing things the wrong way, though, *you're*
still the one that has to deal with the problems, and that has to find
out a way of prototyping this anyway.
"testing" took at least half a year and probably longer to work out
feasible ways of avoiding requiring developers to act to actively to
support it, eg.
