No, because receiving a mail like:
"Your bug report has been closed because a Debian maintainer sent the
following commands to the BTS:
close 123234
close 123456
thanks
Have a nice day!
"
is nowhere near as useful as receiving a mail which says:
"Your bug report has been closed because a Debian maintainer sent the
following message to the BTS:
Already fixed in unstable
Have a nice day!
"
The latter is produced by the command
echo Already fixed in unstable | mail 123234-done@bugs.debian.org \
123456-done@bugs.debian.org
and is infinitely superior to the first version.
How many maintainers *ever* use the comment feature when mailing
control? At best, the subject line says something.
