I've spoken to Joey Hess about this problem in the past, and he says
it's due to a .config script pushing a question on to the stack with
db_input, but never popping it off with db_go.

Therefore the next .config script to call db_go pops the other package's
question off the stack.

So I'd look for a bug in pump's .config.
