Re: Unofficial Debian 'testing' FAQ (was Re: Packages in queue for woody?)



  One thing I've encountered is problems due to arch-independent
packages.  Specifically, I had some situations where (AIUI) arch-independent
packages were depending on arch-dependent packages, and they couldn't be
moved to testing because of that.

  In particular, heroes and related packages finally made it into
testing after I:

  (a) weakened Depends: heroes and Depends: heroes-common to Recommends
  in the data packages.

  (b) Made heroes-common an architecture-dependent package.

  It took me months to think to try this.

  Mentioning the Arch: all problem in the FAQ is probably a good idea.
