I can't tell if it's related, but I've been having problems with a dial-up
connection over pppd. I know it wasn't the ISP, since I just switched ISPs,
but was still getting the problem. The problem was that the modem would
freeze up - the yellow transmission light would stay solid rather than
flashing on and off as data went down the line. I would get the following
in /var/log/syslog:

Dec 21 21:44:11 localhost pppd[3915]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x6 magic=0x129bc702]
Dec 21 21:44:41 localhost pppd[3915]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x7 magic=0x129bc702]
Dec 21 21:45:11 localhost pppd[3915]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x8 magic=0x129bc702]
Dec 21 21:45:41 localhost pppd[3915]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x9 magic=0x129bc702]
Dec 21 21:46:11 localhost pppd[3915]: No response to 4 echo-requests
Dec 21 21:46:11 localhost pppd[3915]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.

and pppd would turn itself off, but the modem would still be locked frozen
with the light on. I'd have to reset the modem (pcmcia, eject and reinsert)
to use it again.

But I noticed I was also getting the warning:
Dec 21 21:43:41 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-10

and, as you mentioned, net-pf-10 is associated in modules.conf with ipv6.
So I've uncommented that line to turn it off.

I don't know if the problems are truly related (can anyone confirm or deny
if it is? ) but the modem seems to be working for now.

Drew
