I have an old slink-box at home with /usr readonly. dpkg
just relizes, that it can not write and install nothing, but there was
no damage, when I forgot to remount it before installing. (Hey, an dpkg
asking to remount would be just cool).
What I also did was remounting / readonly after the boot-proces (I just
hate it, when all is writeable). I would like it very much, when the
boot-process would just need /var/ mounted rw and / could be ro, but I
guess this is just not makeable.
