As I think that both protocols have their own advantages (and
currently I don't think that any is so much better that we have to
take it) I don't think it is relevant which of the protocols is
supported right now.

However I think it is relevant if we could get an patch integrated to
support the other protocol as well (means: not replacing the current
protocol). Which might be a good thing anyways as both protocols have
their own merits.
