Re: Highpoint RocketRaid 1820A

I'm trying to install debian kfreebsd on a production server with an HighPoint rocketraid 1820A card because freebsd don't need a driver for this while linux need a propetary module

while freebsd from freebsd.org (kernel v7) boot and install, debian kfreebsd don't see the card.

I know that an installer with v7 was never been built

But in the Freebsd site it is written that the driver for my card is supported from kernel v5 on..

Unfortunately, even for FreeBSD is needed proprietary module.
The plain FreeBSD uses suplied object files, see hptmv, hptrr and rr232x
subdirectories of http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/dev/.

As these binary only proprietary modules are not DFSG compliant,
they are removed in both kfreebsd-6, kfreebsd-7 debian packages.
