Presumably inexperienced (but proactive) users will come across bug
reports like this one, and eventually gain the autonomy to solve their
own problems.
Choice is important. Debian and Ubuntu have different directions and
adhere to different ideals. For some users convenience is of the
utmost importance. For them Ubuntu is simply the better choice, and
that's ok.
