No objection from me, I've just signed it.

I can imagine that d-i might have to do something to support users
of such systems, similar to how we have non-free boot media to support
users who need firmware to install. The petition allows us to do
something like that, as long as we discourage use of it, similarly to
how we discourage use of the non-free boot media.
