Package: Debian-Installer and logical volume manager
Version: Sarge-i386-1.iso via jigdo Dvd says 20041022

http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/dvd/jigdo-area/i386/
says 23-Oct-2004
md5sum 4dda4977228faa5fe4beb3ccda831479 was reported
by k3b and
is the same as sarge-i386-1.iso on cdimage.debian.org
System: ECS Kt-600-a Rev 1.0 WD40 Hd, Cd-burner and
Panasonic UJ-815-b Dvd-burner.

I downloaded and burned Sarge-i386-1.iso via jigdo.
K3b burned it ok. When I tried to install it fussed
that it did not have everything for base.

It said I could probably proceed without everything.
I
didn't see anything I thought I need except lvm and
ppp.
I only checked these 2 out of about a dozen.

It seemed to load these two and I partitioned the
disk.
But after I finished partitioning and clicked on
configure
the logical volume manager, it kept complaining that I

couldn't create, modify or extend lvm and it kept
showing
6 GB free on the end of the hd.

It said that it couldn't configure the base system.
It
said I could see the log at var.... I told it to
write
the debug log but it died. Maybe because I don't have
a floppy drive.

I have a cd burner and a dvd burner but it didn't
eject
the dvd. The Debian-Installer doesn't have an option
to
eject the dvd so I don't know how to get it out.
Presently
I removed the drive with the dvd and booted knoppix
since
grub is messed up and can't boot the hd.

Can you please help me?

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
