Comments/Problems:

Issue #1:

During installation of the base packages, the progress bar sits at 61%
for at least 3-4 minutes.  This is after "Unpacking" and "Configuring"
are displayed at the bottom of the dialog and just after "Installing"
is displayed.  However, looking at tty3 there doesn't appear to be any
change between these stages.  There are various
unpacking/configuring/setting up messages from apt even during the
"Installing" stage.

Despite the fact that the progress bar was stalled, the apt messages
appeared normal with no errors or particularly slow installations, and
continued to scroll by while the progress bar remained the same.

The same problem was present in the last daily I tried as well (before
rc1).  I think this is a serious problem.  I for one rebooted twice
when this happened thinking that it must be a bad read from the CD at
the same place, and that the entire install had hung as a result.

Issue #2:

This is unrelated to the first, despite sharing a similar symptom.
When prompted for a hostname, I stayed with the default of "debian".
When prompted for a domain name, I removed the default entry because
it was not appropriate and left the field blank.  As a result:

During initial install:
	"Setting up exim4-config"
	[about 10 second delay]
	hostname: Unknown hostname

	"Setting up exim4-daemon-light"
	Starting MTA:
	[60 second delay]

During first reboot:
	Starting MTA:
	[60 second delay]

During base-config:
	Selected Local delivery only; not on a network
	Reloading exim4 configuration files
	[60 second delay]

This is a bad user experience, especially since it happens on every
boot and every time the MTA is reconfigured (which happens too often
in Debian, but that is another issue).  Possible solutions:

1. Have Exim respect the /etc/hosts entry ("debian" in this case)
   and make sure it's there before Exim is installed
2. Set the timeout to a much lower value, e.g. 10 seconds

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
  the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
  D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
  fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful


The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet. 

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.
