Bug#582257: probing DOS devices doesn't work

Package: os-prober
Version: 1.38

Seems that os-prober fails to recognize bootable DOS
partitions. Sample session:

# os-prober
  No volume groups found
/dev/sda2:openSUSE 11.0 (i586):SuSE:linux
/dev/sdb3:Debian GNU/Linux (squeeze/sid):Debian:linux
/dev/sdc2:Debian GNU/Linux (squeeze/sid):Debian1:linux

# blkid -c /dev/null | sort
/dev/sda1: TYPE="swap"
/dev/sda2: UUID="4bb5089b-8673-40b4-bbe2-78a5a867da7a" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3"
/dev/sda3: UUID="0857d6bb-9cb3-412e-a325-02fbd480399e" TYPE="ext3"
/dev/sdb1: LABEL="root" UUID="084ce514-69d8-467c-9864-0f86b5dbef3a" TYPE="reiserfs"
/dev/sdb2: TYPE="swap"
/dev/sdb3: LABEL="sid" UUID="850218ef-a38f-44a1-8988-8c012efee23d" TYPE="reiserfs"
/dev/sdb4: LABEL="tomcat" UUID="d3965cdd-4847-4855-8bbb-7f611b568488" TYPE="reiserfs"
/dev/sdc1: SEC_TYPE="msdos" LABEL="usbdos" UUID="8518-0F77" TYPE="vfat"
/dev/sdc2: LABEL="usbroot" UUID="feb06aa6-7adf-422d-918d-797b367d11f5" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3"

sdc is a bootable memory stick with FreeDOS on sdc1 and Squeeze on sdc2.
The DOS partition boots fine using Grub chainloader, of course, except
that I have to create the appropriate grub config entry manually.

It would be nice if this problem could be fixed. Please mail.

Regards

Harri
