Comments/Problems:
Cannot complete the install both directly on the T500 or in a VirtualBox machine. The problems are all during base system install and are:

1. Error message: "Debootstrap warning Warning: Failure trying to run: chroot /target mount -t proc proc /proc"
Click on continue brings up another message: "The debootstrap program exited with an error (return value 2). Check /var/log/syslog or see virtual console 4"
Virtual console 4 says:
main-menu[842]: INFO: Menu item 'bootstrap-base' selected
debootstrap: Segmentation fault

Click on continue brings up this message: "The base system installation into /target/ failed. Check..."

when trying to repeat the Install the base system phase I'm asked if I want to proceed with installation to unclean target. If I click yes the installation continues and I don't see the above messages again.

2.After choosing which kernel to use and wheter to include all drivers in initrd, configuring linux-image fails.
Message: "An error was returned while trying to install the kernel into the target system.
Kernel package: 'linux-image-2.6-686'.
Check /var/log/..."
This happens regardless of the kernel I choose to install.
syslog says:

Hope this is useful and that I will one day be able to install from the testing iso.

Regards,
Golan.

Changes:
 base-installer (1.102) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   [ Frans Pop ]
   * s390: also exclude -s390x-tape kernels during kernel selection.
   * Temporarily replace the /etc/fstab in target by a real dummy file to
closer match what debootstrap does internally. It avoids a problem
installing Lenny when the fstab contains UUIDs instead of device names.
     Closes: #539744.
   * Bump debhelper compatibility to version 6.
 .
   [ Colin Watson ]
   * Add STANZAS subcommand to pkgdetails, to be used by debootstrap 1.0.16.
