Comments/Problems:

I created a RAID1 to hold the /boot partition and formatted as ext3 just
fine. When trying to format a RAID6 LVM group for /, mke2fs (creating
an ext3 fs) sits there and does nothing. This has been happening for
a week at least.

RAID1: 5 partitions, 0 spares
RAID6: 5 partitions, 0 spares, one LVM logical group for the root fs

Booted with "nopat" to get around a console hang problem but the issue
also happens in the graphical install ("nopat" not needed).
