Bug#489778: i2o and 2.6.2x kernel
I think if one searches for "i2o + 2.6 kernel bug" this will be getting
closer to the core of the problem, which is that there is a known bug in
certain 2.6 kernels associated with the i2o controllers.

At this point the problem is beyond me and, having deliberately hosed a
valid install more than once to try to reproduce the failure (and being
TOO successful at that, I am now trying to reproduce the steps which give
me a valid install.
Since there is an identified bug in the kernel, the more interesting
question from the Debian install standpoint, given my experience, is 'What
can be done to successfully avoid the problem?'
