i've done some more tests with today's daily build.

the disk /dev/hda is previously partitioned and installation goes to /dev/hda5.

i choose manual partitioning. then i select partition /dev/hda5. then
select ext2 as filesystem and then installer hangs if i change "save
partition data" to "format partition". but if before choosing what to
do with the data i select the mount point ("/") and after that i
select to format the partition the installer continues without
problem.

since i'm doing the installation in catalan and not in english, note
that the messages translated back to english may only resemble the
original ones.
