After a long wait, it was finally possible to upload apt-setup two weeks ago, so installation using multiple CDs is now possible with current weekly images. As has been discussed before, this is especially important for installations in languages other than English in countries with relatively low speed Internet connections. I have just committed a few final changes, mostly to make the dialog that asks whether to use a mirror more correct when using CD or DVD sets. Comments on the string changes are welcome. The plan is to give translators some time to catch up with the string changes and then to upload apt-setup in time for Beta1. Currently the following situations are recognized: - businesscard CD: mirror is used automatically, no prompt - netinst CD: user is asked at medium priority with default true - full CD - only installation CD scanned: high priority with default true - 2/3 CDs scanned: high priority with default true; modified prompt - 4-8 CDs scanned: high priority with default false; modified prompt - >8 CDs scanned: only asked at low priority with default false - DVD - only installation DVD scanned: high priority with default false - >1 DVDs scanned: only asked at low priority with default false Note that there is no check which CDs/DVDs have been scanned. So if a user scans the first and then CDs 5-8 (but not 2-4), he's out of luck. There is one TODO item left: to recognize multi-arch, kde and xfce CDs as not being part of a set. This will require a change in debian-cd, but is on my TODO list. Cheers, FJP
