Bug#302121: Debian Installer

Hi

I've encoutered the same problem trying to install debian on i945 chipset (Asus P5LD2 mainboard).
I've had no disks found using standard installation disks and after replacing the kernel with 2.6.15.4 I get the same error.
I've replaced the kernel on netboot server and on CD and the result is always the same:
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
VFS: Cannot open root device "rd/0" or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block(0,0)

I've installed mandriva based on 2.6.12-12mdk-i586-up-1GB kernel and it works OK. Don't know what options and drivers where used to build that kernel.
I've attached results of running lspci and dmesg on mandriva.

Shouldn't initrd.gz be also updated when replacing the kernel?

Best Regards
Pawel Kryczkowski
