In the past debootstrap would install ppp-config and pppoe-config and related stuff as part of the base system. This would at least allow users to set up ppp/pppoe manually after the reboot. Now, debootstrap has stopped doing that (which I am happy with), but that does leave users in a bit of a bind: they need the packages to set up networking but they need the network to get the packages... This is a regression. Maybe we schedule ppp and pppoe for installation when: - the user selects the ppp-modules udeb for installation; - the network is left unconfigured in 1st stage. Of course this would require us to make sure these packages are included on netinst (and full) CDs. Comments?
