Because /vmlinuz is a symlink to /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.27-1-386, so the
boot-loader should load the /vmlinuz file, and that is what it says.

The kernel name is the full path to the kernel in question, inside the
partition it resides in. That is / or /boot, depending if /boot is a separate
partition.

So, altough the wording may not be the best and lead to confusion, this is
normal behavior, and there is not much we can change about it at this time.
