Bug#249459: D-I another try

wow. tried the new d-i on my new cube.
the installation has become more easy than on i386 machines.
honest. it worked like a charm.
tried the "simple" auto-partitioning -> worked without errors
tried the "advanced" lvm-partitioning -> worked without errors.
everything went sooo smooth, that i am more than just impressed.

for those interested, some of my notes and excerpts of the
minicom-session:

Mon Oct 25 18:51:59 CEST 2004

do this:

vi /etc/dhcpd.conf

host cobalt.ai.my-domain.ac.at {
        hardware ethernet 00:10:e0:00:76:4e;
        fixed-address 192.168.51.126 ;
        option domain-name-servers 192.168.107.146;
        server-name "192.168.107.246";
        option root-path "/nfsroot";
        filename "default.colo";
        next-server 192.168.107.246;
        option host-name "cobalt";
}

/etc/init.d/dhcpd restart

ldapvi -D 'dc=supi,dc=ai'

464 dc=cobalt,dc=ai,dc=my-domain,dc=ac,dc=at,ou=dns,dc=ai
objectClass: top
objectClass: dnsdomain2
objectClass: domainrelatedobject
dc: cobalt
aRecord: 192.168.51.126
associatedDomain: cobalt.ai.my-domain.ac.at

ping cobalt.ai.my-domain.ac.at
PING cobalt.ai.my-domain.ac.at (192.168.51.126) 56(84) bytes of data.

ssh aitmp -l root
mkdir /nfsroot
echo "/nfsroot 192.168.51.126(ro,async)" >> /etc/exports
/etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart
cd /nfsroot
wget http://people.debian.org/~tbm/d-i/images/mipsel/2004-09-29/cobalt/nfsroot.tar.gz
ln -s . nfsroot
tar xvfz nfsroot.tar.gz

reboot cobalt, pressing left and right direction button
!!! ATTENTION: dhcp does not work when the original ip-address is in a different netmask than your current one. so ... you might have to boot the cobalt into the original OS is had and set the ip-address to something in your netmask in order to have a successful dhcp-request. (kind of security thing...)

choosing NFS-option

there we go: "welcome to the debian-installer"
