Bug#246841: qualified success on iBook G4

I hope that finaly I understand how newworld boots. :-) I suppose
that in order yaboot to be able to use a partition, the partition has
to meet two requirements:

1. Its bootable flag should be set.
2. Its type in the partition table should be hfs

I didn't know that 2. is necessary and I supposed that an existing hfs
file system is.

It should be as you say. The script is valid_filesystems/newworld, it
returns newworld and parted_names/newworld translates this to hfs for
parted.

You should remove from the templates file partman/filesystem_short/hfs
and partman/filesystem_long/hfs and add
partman/filesystem_short/newworld and partman/filesystem_long/newworld.
This will make the script update.d/newworld_visuals unnecessary and it
should be removed. (The scripts in update.d are the slowest thing of
partman.)
