Hi aj,
We discussed about this bug on debian-boot ML.
New debian-installer uses debootstrap for base setting, but
unfortunately debootstrap installs some unneeded packages.
For i386,
- - `pcmcia-cs' is cared by debian-installer system. No need to install
this by debootstrap.
- - `mbr' isn't used by installer. It should be removed from debootstrap.
- - debian-installer can choice lilo / grub. No need to install `lilo' by
debootstrap (it needs to fix debian-installer, but is good way).
- - kernel 2.4 is default kernel since sarge, so `ipchains' may be
dropped.
I'm not familiar with other architecture, but boot loader such as
lilo, aboot, and silo should be installed by debian-installer rather
than debootstrap.
Thanks,
