No, this is not normal. I suspect your problem was the same problem I
ran into, being a few symbols short with libdebian-installer.so.3.
I've uploaded the CVS version of libdebian-installer to get a version
with di_status_read and di_config_package. Someone forgot to upload
the new library before other packages started to use the symbols in
the CVS version of the library.
You can get mklibs to tell you which symbols it is missing if you add
more '-v' arguments to the call. I'm not sure how it should be done
properly within the makefile.
