Hmm... I assume you are using the "install from hard disk" option in
dbootstrap (the installation program), right?

Do you give it the proper partition to look on and the proper
directory name?  Which partition is in on? The same partition you are
installing to?  Are you sure you have enough free space?

Can you check tty3 and see if there are any errors there? 

Any other info you can give us to help diagnose?
