uname -a: Linux localhost 2.4.21-5-386 #1 Sun Sep 21 14:15:10 CDT 2003 i686 GNU/Linux

Method: Booted and installed from sarge-i386-netinst.iso using link and HOWTO
instructions posted to debian-devel-announce on 2003-09-15. Only snags were
during partitioning stage. Tried autopartkit but I didn't like the scheme, one
giant partition for my 40 GB IDE drive. Retried, this time using cfdisk, and
once I figured out the correct argument for the disk name, it worked fine.
Followed the rest of the HOWTO to get the base system setup, and then used dpkg
get/set selections from another testing system to download rest of the
packages.

Machine: Custom, ASUS A7V600 motherboard

Comments/Problems:

Excellent work people. Everything went smoothly. My only suggeston would be to
add the argument for the correct disk to parition when using the cfdisk method
in the HOWTO. For me that was: /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc.

Hi,

if I understand your bugreport correctly, you have tried to partition
your harddisk with cfdisk on the second console.

Partitioner is now working again, so there is no need to call *fdisk
manually. You can easly select your harddrive in the nice
debian-installer frontend.

If this is wrong, please feel free to reopen this bug.

Thanks
Thorsten
