Issue with RC2 installer
I've now tried 3 different 2GB flash USB sticks, and cannot get the
debian RC2 installer working on them. I keep getting stuck with issues
on the filesystem such as:
Apr 3 12:35:31 kernel: EXT3-fs error (device sda2):
htree_dirblock_to_tree: bad entry in directory #15395: rec_len % 4 != 0
- offset=0, inode=4294967295, rec_len=65535, name_len=255
And (on a different stick:)
Apr 3 12:52:12 debootstrap:
Apr 3 12:55:14 kernel: usb 3-1: reset high speed USB device using
ehci_hcd and address 2
Apr 3 12:56:32 kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Apr 3 12:56:32 kernel: sda2: rw=0, want=4294967296, limit=2999999
Essentially, it seems that the flash file system is returning -1 (or
something similar) as the wanted sector and that the system is failing
at that point.
I've tried mounting the filesystem on '/' manually with noatime, and
setting the journaling interval to 100 seconds instead of 5, and that
did not make any difference.
On the same memory stick that failed, I have now successfully installed
OpenSlug 4.4 (with the turnup memstick option )
Is there something specific that I need to look at? If you need me to
do any further testing, I can do so, just email me. (I'm still
interested in getting full debian running on one of my 3 slugs).
Thanks.
Paul Tan.
