New packages, /dev/dsp

I've built new packages for audiofile 0.1.7-2 (didn't see 0.1.5 in the
listing until too late :-), esound 0.2.10-0.19990424, glib 1.2.4-1 and
gtk+ 1.2.4-2 (required gdk/gdk.c be compiled -O instead of -O2), and am
working toward enlightenment... (aren't we all? :-)  Haven't checked on
whether they actually work yet, but when I do they'll go up on a web
server.

In the meantime, esd and its tools do nothing because there is no
/dev/dsp.  How do I make one?  This is for the 2.2.10 image package,
haven't built my own yet.  It's curious: /proc/sound has the NetWindre
WaveArtist driver (compiled in), and SoftOSS listed under Synth devices,
but nothing listed under Audio devices...
